My dear precious Jesus, I do not mean to take your place.
I only bring toys and things; You bring love and grace.
People give me lists of wishes, and hope they came true;
You hear prayers of the heart with promises Your will to do.
Children try to be good and not cry when I’m coming to town;
You love them unconditionally with a love that abounds.
I leave some toys and temporary joy for the season;
You give eternal love and grace for all the right reasons.
I have a lot of believers and what one might call fame;
Yet, I’ve never healed the blind or even tried to help the lame.
I have rosy cheeks and a voice full of laughter;
But no nail-scarred hands or promise of the hereafter.
You may find several of me in a town or a mall;
But only omnipotent You can answer a sinner's call.
And so, my dear Jesus, I kneel here humbly to pray,
To worship and adore You on Your holy birthday.

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John 1:14 NLT
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 ESV
