PRAY

Have you ever had the feeling of being stuck in your prayer life?

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT) tells us to: “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

That verse says it about as straightforward as it an be — to honor the Lord, we must pray!  As a Christ-follower, one purpose of prayer is to get to know Him on a deeper level.

Sometimes it is hard to know where to start; or, you may not know what to say; or, you may not know exactly how to say what you want to say!

Below is a list of prompts that may guide you with ideas about different ways to pray for your family and friends, your community and for your own life that you may not have considered. The list is general in nature, and hopefully it will prompt you to include other specific areas that need prayer…in your own life, your family’s life, for those in your neighborhood, in your church, community, etc. As you pray, ask the Lord to guide you every step of the way.

Pray for your family and your home.

Pray for your spouse (or future spouse).

Pray for extended family and friends.

Pray for the health of your family, community, the nation and the world now and always.

Pray about something you need to confess right now.

Pray about someone you are having a hard time loving right now.

Pray for the frontline workers who are keeping communities safe right now.

Pray for your church, church leadership, and the congregation as a whole.

Pray for other churches and leadership in your community.

Pray for those in your life that you know are going through a hard time right now.

Pray over a big decision you are facing in your life and ask the Lord for guidance.

Pray for our government and political leaders.

Pray for a fruit of the Spirit that you would like to grow into.

Pray for peace and comfort during uncertain situations.

Pray for strength to have that tough conversation.

********

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Philippians 4:6 NLT

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Colossians 4:2 NLT

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.  1 Timothy 2:1-4 NLT
