THOUGHTS FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

When love is viewed as a verb, its focus is on giving not receiving. Patience with others is Love; patience with self is Hope; and patience with God is Faith. To love someone deeply gives you strength. Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage.

ON WINGS OF LOVE
-
Helen Steiner Rice

The priceless gift of life is love,
For with the help of God above
Love can change the human race
And make this world a better place.
For love dissolves all hate and fear
And makes our vision bright and clear
So we can see and rise above
Our pettiness on wings of love.

IT ISN’T, UNTIL…

A bell isn’t a bell ’til it’s rung.
A song isn’t a song ’til it’s sung.
Love isn’t put in your heart to stay,
Love isn’t love til it’s given away.

HEARTPRINTS

Whatever our hands touch, We leave fingerprints!
On walls, on furniture, On doorknobs, dishes, books.
There’s no escape. As we touch, we leave our identity.
Oh God, wherever I go today Help me leave heartprints!
Heartprints of compassion, of understanding and love.
Heartprints of kindness, and genuine concern.
May my heart touch a lonely neighbor, or a heart-broken daughter,
Or an anxious mother, or perhaps an aged grandfather.
Lord, send me out today to leave heartprints.
And if someone should say “I felt your touch,”
May that one sense YOUR LOVE touching through ME.

Give thanks to the God of heaven. His faithful love endures forever. Psalm 136:26 NLT

Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands. Deuteronomy 7:9 NLT

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8 NLT

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Corinthians 13:1-7 NLT

God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.  ~ Augustine
