HELPING AND LOVING OTHERS

Everyone needs a little help sometimes; no one is meant to go through life alone.

For Christians, that's first and foremost where God comes in - He's always by your side.

Deuteronomy 31:6  (NLT) says, “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.

But, after God, each one of us is here for others. The following Bible verses encourage us to help others…because if life has given you blessings, it's important to share those with others.

And this is the message you have heard from the beginning:  We should love one another.   John 3:11 NLT

This is my command: Love each other.  John 15:17 NLT

And this is His commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. 1 John 3:23 NLT

For some people, that could mean volunteering with a local charity or donating to a good cause. For others, sharing blessings might be as simple as having an uplifting conversation with someone or lending emotional support to a friend who is going through a rough time. There are needs to be filled everywhere around us.

Sharing the Lord's love in your community is a powerful act. It may not always be easy, but as a person of faith, God calls upon each one of us to serve others and bring His light to them. These powerful scripture verses provide inspiration for how each of us can share God’s love with those around us needing His love and caring.

Carry each other’s burdens and so you will fulfill the law of Christ.  Galatians 6:2

Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have because God is pleased with these kinds of sacrifices.  Hebrews 13:16

This is my commandment: love each other just as I have loved you. John 15:12

If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord—and he will repay you!  Proverbs 19:17

Don't withhold good from someone who deserves it, when it is in your power to do so.  Proverbs 3:27

Instead of each person watching out for their own good, watch out for what is better for others.  Philippians 2:4

My brothers and sisters, what good is it if people say they have faith but do nothing to show it? Claiming to have faith can’t save anyone, can it? Imagine a brother or sister who is naked and never has enough food to eat. What if one of you said, 'Go in peace! Stay warm! Have a nice meal.’ What good is it if you don't actually give them what their body needs? In the same way, faith is dead when it doesn’t result in faithful activity.  James 2:14-17

God isn't unjust so that he forgets your efforts and the love you have shown for His name's sake when you served and continue to serve God's holy people.  Hebrews 6:10

Generous persons will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25

But if someone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but refuses to help — how can the love of God dwell in a person like that?  1 John 3:17

In everything I have shown you, that by working hard, we must help the weak. In this way we remember the Lord Jesus' words: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”  Acts 20:3

So continue encouraging each other and building each other up, just like you are doing already. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

To show great love for God and our neighbor, we need not do great things. It is how much love we put in the doing that makes our offering something beautiful for God. - Mother Teresa
